PhotoImpact 7 has a new "Effect"
feature, Creative Crystal. This tutorial will show you one of the many things you
can do with this new addition.
Open a new image 150 x
200. Fill it with the color of your choice. For this tutorial I used #446D8C.
Go to Effect, Creative, Crystal. Click on the Lighting Tab. Refer to the
screenshot shown below. Choose the last Effect - Glass.
(Note for PI 8 users only. PI 7 users skip this step:
Go to Effect/Material Effect/Glass & Crystal. Underneath the Key Frame
Control Slider you'll note two triangles. Click on the triangle on the right until
it turns blue. You'll note the glass moves to the right side of the preview screen
and the "minus" button becomes active. Click the "minus" button.
This will delete the right triangle. The triangle to the left remains.
You'll note the glass moved to the left of the screen. Slide the Key Control
all the way to the left. Center your glass. See screenshot below.)

Set the parameters as
shown in the screen shot on Frame 1. The Key Control the slider should be all the
way to the left and you should have 1/10 where you see "Frames". This is
Frame 1.
.
Now move the slider all
the way to your right until you see 10/10 "Frames". Referring to the
screen shot below, enter the parameters given and apply them to Frame 10.

Refer to the screen shot
below. Click on the little circle with the arrow on it (#1 for continuous looping) and
then click on the arrow key (#2) to preview your animation.

When satisfied with your animation, click on
OK and choose "Save Animation File and Create New Object.

The size of this file is pretty big. You can
import this into Gif Animator to optimize it. The original file is 50574 bytes. This was
optimzed at the default settings in the Optimization Wizard (256 colors) which brought it
down to 40057 bytes. Using less colors will bring the size of the animation even lower.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial.
