| This tutorial is
a very simple method of texturizing pictures without the use of third party plugins such
as the texturizer filter.

You're welcome to use this
image for this tutorial. Right click and save this picture to your hard drive.
Open up this picture into
Photo Impact. Right click on the picture and click on copy. Right click
again and click on paste. Do not deselect the picture. Keep it active.
Open up your Easy Palette
and go to the Fill Gallery, Background Textures and click on BT128. You now have the
background texture layered on top of your original picture. Do not deselect.
Right click and go to Properties. Set the transparency to 85 and click OK.
While this is still active, go to Effect, Special, Emboss and in Options set the Depth to
5. Click on the spacebar to deselect. Go to Format, Brightness & Contrast,
and click on the 3rd box in the top row once. Then click on the 3rd box in the
bottom row once. Right click and merge all.
This effect is very
similar to the burlap effect with the texturizer filter set at scaling 58, relief 1, light
direction top left.

You can make different
textured effects using this method with some of the fill gallery backgrounds for your
images. If needed, you can brighten up each picture if needed by using Brightness
& Contrast or the Tone Map.
The picture below was done
using the same method with background texture fill BT072. It's a bit like the
sandstone effect using the texturizer filter.

I hope you've enjoyed this
tutorial.
