For
this tutorial you will need the Texturizer plugin which is located in your Photoshop
plugins folder. You'll also need the Cybia Screenworks filter and Filter Factory's Gallery A
(Kaleidoscope II) filter. To learn how to import plug ins, click here.
Open a new image 600 x 400 pixels.
Go to the Easy Palette. In the Fill Gallery, using Artistic Texture AT031, double click to
fill the blank canvas.
Go to Effects, Filter Factory A, Kaleidoscope II and set Divisions at 107 and Rotations at
21. Click OK.

Go to Edit, Expand Canvas. Check the Expand Sides Equally box. Enter 20 and enter use a
dark brown color (#2A110C). Click OK.
Make a duplicate of this image by hitting Control C (copy), Control V (paste). This
will paste a new copy of the image directly over the original one. With the duplicate
image active, go to Effects, Screenworks, and click on Dot Screen. Go back to Screenworks
and click on Close Knit.
While the duplicate image is still active right click and click on Properties. In the
Merge drop down menu select Overlay. Enter 65 for Transparency. Right click and Merge All.
Go to Effect, Texturizer. Set the values at Sandstone, Scaling 100, Relief 8, Light
Direction Top Left and click OK.
Go to Format, Dimension. Under User Defined, make sure Keep Aspect Ratio is checked and
enter 50 for the width and height at Percentage. Click OK. Your rug should look like this
now.

Open up a new canvas 450 x 250. Copy and paste this rug into the new canvas to give you
enough room to work in to transform your rug.
While the rug is active, go to Object, Convert Object Type, and click on from Image
to Path.
Click on the Transform
Tool and using the Rotate In Virtual 3D tool manipulate your rug by holding down your mouse and moving the track ball
up until it looks like the image shown below.

(actual size)
Go to Object, Convert Object Type,
and convert the rug from Path to Image. Go to Effect, Sharpen and Blur, Sharpen and
sharpen at 1.
To dress your rug up with fringe there is a section in the Oriental Rug Tutorial which shows you how to do this. Go
to the Adding Fringe section for instructions.
I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial.
