Samsung SyncMaster 940UX
So, SyncMaster 940UX is a monitor capable of operating via USB interface and that was successfully demonstrated. Of course it is not able to replces the good old D-Sub and DVI – since the emulated video card is incomparable to a real-life video card and because Windows reacted inadequately when booted with just one USB-monitor; perhaps, it encountered the following problem: the puctire has to be outputting somewhere but the video card is still absent in the system as the driver hasn’t yet booted. Driver download page is here.
The drawbacks of USB connection include one the absence of any 3D acceleration (by the way it seems interesting how this monitor will operate under Windows Vista where 3D accelerators are already used by the OS interface). Since the target audience of SyncMaster 940UX is people who want to purchase a multimonitor configuration at minimum cost or due to technical limitations they won’t be that interested in the latest games though. As for business applications SyncMaster 940UX is just a perfect choice.
